
Thunderstorms will continue to build in intensity through the afternoon with the most intense weather conditions likely between 3 and 9 p.m.
AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist, Alex Sosnowski, concerning the threats of severe thunderstorms for the Eastern United States through Monday night.
The Big Picture: A threat of severe thunderstorms are predicted to impact over 80 million people in the eastern U.S. through Monday night. Torrential downpours impacted the central Appalachians and Northeast Monday morning and will continue to travel eastward. Some storms may bring hail and a tornado.
In addition to strong downpours, wind gusts may reach up to 80mph in the strongest storms. According to AccuWeather, “Wind gusts in some of the storms will be strong enough to bring down trees and power lines and can lead to minor property damage.”
Thunderstorms will then reach New England on Tuesday.
Also To Watch: Hurricane Dora is back up to a Category 4 storm but is predicted to weaken this week. It is currently located to the south of Hawaii.
