You just can’t believe the destruction.

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt on the impact in Sulphur, Oklahoma after a tornado impacted the town on Saturday night – several people died, at least 100 were injured and an estimated 20,000+ lost electricity.

Why It Matters: Severe weather impacted several states throughout America’s Midwest, including Oklahoma, Iowa and Nebraska.

Interesting To Note: Tornados can strike at any time in all 50 states, although they are generally more common in certain parts of the Great Plains often known astornado alley(Oklahoma, North Texas, Kansas and Nebraska) where severe thunderstorms can occur. Scientists still don’t completely understand why and how tornadoes occur. We often say “suspected tornado” early in reporting as an official tornado reading comes from the National Weather Service *after* an assessment of the damage.
