U.S. Gov’t Warns Google Chrome Users to Update or Delete Browser

The U.S. government has warned federal employees to install May’s emergency updates or to cease using Chrome.

Security and surveillance writer for Forbes, Zak Doffman, explaining a deadline set by the U.S. government to update the Google Chrome browser or delete it altogether due to cybersecurity concerns.

Why It Matters: Google Chrome – a web browser regularly used by approximately 2 billion users worldwide – experienced numerous cybersecurity issues throughout May. In response, the U.S. government added the incidents to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog, detailing online “vulnerabilities that have been exploited in the wild.

What To Do: To ensure safe use of Google Chrome, users must install two separate updates by June 6. Check out update instructions here.
