We are heartbroken.

Chad Scruggs, father of Hallie Scruggs, who was killed in the school shooting at the Covenant School on Monday in Nashville, Tennessee. There were five other victims.

On Monday morning, three students and three staff members were killed at the Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee. Here is what we know about those who lost their life that day:

Evelyn Dieckhaus, 9: A third-grader at the Covenant School described by her family as "a shining light in this world."

William Kinney, 9: A student at the Covenant School.

Mike Hill, 61: A custodian at the Covenant School for the past 14 years, where the students knew him as "Big Mike." He is survived by seven children and 14 grandchildren; his family released a statement saying some of his joys in life were cooking and family, and that he was "beloved" by the faculty and students at school.

Katherine Koonce, 60: Head of the Covenant School since 2016. One friend said, "Her faith was her foundation. Her family was her greatest love, yet she always wanted to work and give back so other families and children could also feel loved and cared for."

Cynthia Peak, 61: Substitute teacher at the Covenant School. Her family shared, "Her favorite roles in life were being a mom to her three children, a wife to her husband, and an educator to students," adding that they are "grateful for the hope of Heaven."

Hallie Scruggs, 9: A third-grader at the Covenant School described by her family as "such a gift." Her father is the senior pastor at the Covenant Presbyterian Church, which shares grounds with the school.
