Vivek Ramaswamy Suspends Presidential Campaign

January 16, 2024

As of this moment, we are going to suspend this presidential campaign.

Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy withdrawing from the race for the Republican nomination for president on Monday night, January 15th, after finishing fourth in the Iowa caucuses.

Why It Matters: Vivek Ramaswamy’s withdrawal leaves three main candidates in the race for the Republican nomination for the White House – former President Donald Trump, former UN Ambassador and governor Nikki Haley and current Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Ramaswamy endorsed President Trump on the same night he suspended his campaign.

Ramaswamy, a married father of two, graduated from Harvard after studying biology and then from Yale Law School, and became a tech/pharmaceutical executive before launching his campaign for the White House. He is 38 years old.

Although Ramaswamy finished fourth in the Iowa caucuses, he earned nearly 8% of the vote leaving those votes up for grabs for the other candidates.
