Ms. Wally Funk joined Jeff Bezos on Blue Origin’s first *crewed* flight to space on Tuesday. A pilot at age 17, Funk trained to become an astronaut as part of the *Mercury 13* – a group of women who completed rigorous requirements by NASA but never got the chance to travel to space. At the time, only military pilots became astronauts – and only men were allowed to become military pilots. At 82, she became the oldest person to fly to space.
