Wheel Of Fortune: Pat Sajak Retires After 41 Seasons

June 7, 2024

Well, the time has come to say goodbye. … It’s been an incredible privilege to be invited into millions of homes night after night, year after year, decade after decade.

Long-time host of Wheel of Fortune, Pat Sajak, in his prerecorded final episode that airs on Friday evening. Sajak, 77, hosted for 41 seasons. He holds the Guinness World Record for the longest-running host of one game show.

Why It Matters: Wheel of Fortune is the second-most popular syndicated TV show (behind Jeopardy!), with an average of 8 million viewers per week. Friday’s episode marks the end of host Pat Sajak’s time with the show since he joined in 1981, drawing an end to a prolific career that has spanned over four decades. Vanna White, the cohost, joined Wheel of Fortune in 1982 and plans to stay on air through at least 2026 with Ryan Seacrest, who will replace Sajak.
