Target Chief Executive Officer Brian Cornell, who will step down on February 1 and be replaced by Target’s current Chief Operating Officer Michael Fiddelke.
Why It Matters: Target is the eighth largest retailer in the country but recently has struggled to increase sales, due in part to competitors like Walmart and TJ Maxx. Fiddelke has worked for Target for the past 20 years, though outsiders question Target’s decision to promote from within the company.
